My child is always afraid
The trend is alarming: «We are seeing an explosion in anxiety disorders and depression,» says Silvia Zanotti, psychotherapist and expert in trauma treatment. There are many triggers for anxiety today: «From the fact that we can see what is happening in the furthest corner of the world via the media, to the climate crisis or the increasing lack of relationships in our society,» says Zanotti. However, parents can also burden their children with very high performance expectations and trigger anxiety. However, anxiety is also exacerbated by parents who overprotect their anxious child, thereby weakening their resilience.
