How do I promote independent learning?
The seventh episode of the video series «12 Impulses for Teachers» takes a critical look at the topics of independence and self-organised learning and explains why it is particularly important in this area for teachers to orientate themselves to the pace and level of development of the pupils.
Pupils today should be enabled to learn independently. They are expected to set their own goals, reflect on their progress, evaluate, motivate and organise themselves. Many are overwhelmed by this, which leads to frustration among teachers as well as children and young people.
The following video illustrates how complex the goal of independence is, what prerequisites must be met for children and young people to be able to engage with it and how teachers can promote independence in small steps and accompany children on this path.
