6 tips for everyday life with ADHD
1. think positively
In the evening, let each child tell you what was particularly nice about that day. Keep a list of happy events. Smile. Look for companions who understand you. The time and company you give your children is an investment in the future.
2. do good for yourself
Create islands of calm for yourself and your family members. Find out what is good for you and your family and who has what needs. A positive relationship with your child is the top priority. Hand over responsibility for the family and household in between.
3. keep calm
Take your time for the next steps. Don't want to achieve everything at once - who is perfect? Humour helps.
4. create structures
Set clear rules and be consistent. Name things clearly and with few words. Praise positive behaviour. Give immediate feedback. Organise time (meal time / homework time / family time / free time). Implement what works. Show presence.
«It's no longer mainly parents of boys who stand out, but also parents of quiet girls who contact us,» says Lisbeth Furrer, Head of elpos Central Switzerland.
