Perfectionism: Our topic in November
In the November issue, we look at three big parenting questions: What should parents do if their child develops an unhealthy drive to achieve? How can I differentiate between my child's needs and desires? And how do I find the right sport for my son or daughter?
Look forward to the concentrated expert knowledge of Fabian Grolimund and Stefanie Rietzler. In their dossier «Higher, faster, further» , the two psychologists analyse what drives perfectionist children. They also present three exercises that parents can use to examine their own attitudes towards achievement.
How does needs-orientated parenting work? We spoke to bestselling author Inke Hummel about this. The two most interesting sentences from the educator and mother of three teenagers are: «Many parents are conflict-averse. They find it difficult to put up with a bad mood that isn't over after a few minutes.»
Many parents are familiar with the situation: the child sits in front of the computer for hours or fiddles with their smartphone. Sports teachers Ladina Ehrler-Scharplatz and Isabel Rest-Rivero give tips on how to get young people moving. And advise parents against trying to compensate for their child's supposed weaknesses with a sport.

Get through these stressful times well.
Yours sincerely,
Yours, Nik Niethammer
