Useful apps for the whole family
Plan menus, synchronise appointments or organise excursions: These apps make everyday family life easier and more enjoyable.
Shopping together
Bring! is a free app for shopping and eating for Android and iOS. Once all family members have registered with their email address, they can enter their wishes in great detail in the shared shopping list. Even with a picture of the product. They can also choose from numerous menu suggestions - including the required ingredients. This takes the pressure off the parents and involves the children in a fun way.
Speaking of playful: shopping can also be done together. Whoever puts something in the shopping trolley ticks the product off the list, which shows the changes in real time. Whether as a competition, a responsible task or a fun scavenger hunt in the supermarket: the children can help decide for themselves and even reorganise the menu plan with new ideas.
Plan together
The Famanice app for Android and iOS goes much further. It is financed via a freemium premium offer: the free version can do a lot, but if you want to use all the functions, you have to pay 3 francs a month. In addition to shopping, you can literally organise your entire family life here. Including synchronisation of appointments, internal family chat, to-do list, school organisation and much more. Admittedly, the app is more for tech-savvy parents and older children. The wealth of options is overwhelming. But at the same time, the app eliminates many potential conflicts.
Doing something together
There are also plenty of apps for excursions, Foxtrails and geocaching in Switzerland. I really like Actionbound, for example (for Android, iOS and browser). The basic version of the app is free, but there is a charge for educational and business use. Here, parents have the opportunity to create their own scavenger hunt. If you are not yet familiar with geocaching, we recommend the app of the same name (for Android and iOS) as an introduction to the topic. There is a free beginner's version and a paid premium version. If there are endless discussions about every suggestion: simply vote with the Handshake app(free for Android and iOS).
If you are often out and about with the family, you should definitely have two apps on your mobile phone: Plantnet (free for Android and iOS) and Birdnet (free for Android and iOS). Both apps work with the help of artificial intelligence. With Plantnet, you take a photo of a plant at the side of the road and the app very reliably spits out the name of the plant. With Birdnet, you record the song of a bird and quickly receive a useful answer - including a picture. Be honest: how often have you and your children puzzled over what is singing hidden in the bushes?
