School grades: Our topic in February
I don't know how long you've been reading along here. If, like me, you've been with us since 2014, you've known our columnist Michèle Binswanger for ten years now. Her last article appears in the February issue. It is entitled «Lose yourself » - lose yourself.
The mother of two has always allowed us to look deep into her soul. Personal, opinionated, profound. Thank you, dear Michèle Binswanger, for more than 50 wonderful, always clever, often touching, never ingratiating texts.
How do you recognise a pupil's performance? How do we make learning successes visible? And how can we fairly convey to young people that learning has a purpose? Our February dossier «The crux of grades» attempts to provide answers to these questions. Author Virginia Nolan spoke to learners, teachers and experts and scoured numerous studies. Her conclusion: «It's complicated.»
Our dossier brings you up to date: What's currently in favour, what's against grades. And schools are working with these extended assessment procedures and feedback tools today.

We have also prepared these topics for you: How does parenting work without violence? Parenting course leader Stéphanie Bürgi-Dollet in a big interview.
A child is being bullied. The mother contacts the parent helpline and the counsellor knows what to do.
I wish you an insightful read, stay confident.
Yours sincerely,
Yours, Nik Niethammer
