Myths and facts about childhood

«Child development takes place at different levels - and at different speeds for each child,» says Oskar Jenni. The Co-Head of Developmental Paediatrics at Zurich Kispi talks about myths and facts about childhood. You can watch his entire lecture as a video here.

The paediatrician has headed the Department of Developmental Paediatrics at the University Children's Hospital Zurich since 2005 and is Associate Professor of Developmental Paediatrics ad personam at the University of Zurich. His areas of research include sleep behaviour in childhood and the motor, cognitive and social development of healthy and sick children. His book «Understanding child development» was published by Springer Verlag in 2021.

Lecture from 14.09.2021 (49:06 min): What seems conspicuous to parents who compare their child with others may be completely normal from a developmental paediatric perspective. This is because children develop at different levels - and at different speeds. Whether motor skills, language or social behaviour: The variability in children of the same age is enormous!
