Episode 8: Mindfulness for more calm and concentration
From time to time there is turmoil or hectic confusion in the animal classroom. Especially on long school days, before exams or after grades have been awarded, the children find it difficult to concentrate and engage with the lessons.
With the help of short mindfulness exercises, the children and Mr Badger manage to calm down and recharge their batteries. In the last video in the series «Together we are great!», the little bear demonstrates a popular mindfulness exercise that is ideal for use in the classroom.
Information on the series «Together we are great»
How can rules be introduced in a class so that pupils are more likely to comply with them? How can pupils who find it difficult to stick to rules because of their impulsive and quick-tempered behaviour be supported ? How can a class be sensitised to the issue of bullying? And how can a teacher react if bullying does occur?
Psychologists Fabian Grolimund, Stefanie Rietzler and Nora Völker get to the bottom of these and other questions in the short film series «Together we are class».
The films are aimed directly at children and are intended to help teachers find answers to the above questions with their class. Teachers can download free teaching materials to accompany the films from the Biber blog.
The series is being produced in collaboration with the Swiss parents' magazine Fritz+Fränzi.
