School Extra 2017: Now in 3000 kindergartens and kiosks

For the editorial of Schul-Extra
Ruth Fritschi, President of the LCH Level 4 to 8 Commission and kindergarten teacher:
"Dear parents
In the coming school year, your child will transfer from kindergarten to school. This marks the start of primary school for your child. The first day of school is a special day in the lives of all first-graders and their parents. In many families, the event is photographed and celebrated. That's nice. But some parents also look forward to this day with uncertainty, even worry: Will my child manage this step?
It is important to me to emphasise that - just as in kindergarten - the child is at the centre of school as a holistic personality and is supported and encouraged as such. Of course, new subjects appear in the timetable, but the institution of school and the kindergarten you know have a few things in common: both have the task of promoting your child's personal, social and subject-related skills.
Nothing is more important than a child developing a good sense of themselves. Take pleasure in your child's abilities and show them how happy you are about them. Do not compare your child with others - your child is and remains unique. Be patient, do not put your child under unnecessary pressure and have reasonable expectations. Trust your child and the teacher and talk to them if you have any questions.
The Swiss parents' magazine Fritz+Fränzi addresses these important aspects in this special issue.I recommend this issue to you as President of the LCH Level 4 to 8 Commission and as an experienced practitioner in the school entry level.
I wish you much confidence and good reading!"

The editor in charge and deputy editor-in-chief Evelin Hartmann writes in the editorial:
"Dear readers
Last spring, a neighbour approached me about our «Schöne Schulzeit» issue on the transition to primary school. Her son was about to take this big step. I was delighted to receive her positive feedback. I was even more pleased that she was not the only one who liked our work - and that the magazine could be acompanion during this important stage of life.
Due to the positive response, the Stiftung Elternsein is once again publishing a magazine on this topic, modelled on its «big sister». The Swiss parents' magazine Fritz+Fränzi is dedicated to relevant parenting and education topics. On page 18 you will find a voucher for a free one-year subscription!
I hope you enjoy this issue. Above all, I hope your child has fun learning and a good dose of adventure.
Yours sincerely, Evelin Hartmann "
