Our topics in the August magazine

Autism, stammering, learning myths, the stressful image of a mother and a very personal invitation for you. Editor-in-chief Nik Niethammer is already holding the new issue of the Swiss parents' magazine Fritz+Fränzi in his hands. You can pick up the issue at newsagents from tomorrow (Tuesday, 15 August)!

At first glance, the boy on our cover looks quite ordinary. Blue shirt, braces and crocks, alert look, interested in technology. But when the boy lies on the floor and screams because his understanding of order is confused, it becomes clear: Emilio is different. Emilio is autistic, he suffers from a developmental disorder that severely restricts his social communication skills.
Our author Sarah King tells the story of Emilio and his disorder in a wonderfully empathetic way. She explains why the boy scurries into the laundry room several times a day to watch the drums spin. She shows how parents of autistic children reach their limits. And how they can be relieved. Finally, Sarah King takes us to Tel Aviv to the world's leading autism centre «Mifne».

«You have to count the successes
count the successes you have
achieved in life. And then the dreams you still have. If you have more dreams than successes, you're young.»

Shimon Preres, Israeli politician and Nobel Peace Prize laureate

Did you know that around five per cent of all pre-school children go through a phase of slurred speech and that speech problems persist beyond puberty in around one per cent of all people? The author Vivian Pasquet belongs to this minority. She has been battling the impending break in her speech flow since the age of five. She tells us her story. And how she has learnt to deal with her handicap.
Our April dossier «Homework - useful or unfair?» has generated a lot of discussion. Supporters and opponents have spoken out on various channels with equal vigour and commitment. We would now like to continue the discussion. At a panel event in Zurich. With these high-calibre guests:
