«I was really happy when training started again»
"I love playing football and I think I'm pretty good at it. I've been a member of FC Freienbach for seven years, we train three times a week and have matches at the weekend. I also play with my colleagues on a football pitch near us. That all came to an end overnight with the coronavirus lockdown. That was quite unusual.
We all didn't know how to deal with the new situation. No school, no training, no meetings. And worst of all, no one could say how long this situation would last. That made me quite sad sometimes. I was often bored during the lockdown. I did my schoolwork and went outside a bit in the afternoons, on my own. Luckily, we have a garden and I kicked a ball around with my younger sister from time to time. I spoke to my colleagues on the phone or chatted to them, but I hardly ever met them. I was careful, I didn't want to catch the virus. Overall, the situation wasn't very bad for me, as my mum was also at home and I sometimes went jogging with her. I have a good relationship with my parents. For a few years now, they've been paying more attention to me becoming more independent. They no longer do everything for me, for example, I have to organise my schoolwork all by myself. That's okay for me. We also talk about more serious topics, I like that.
I wasn't really scared during this phase, but I did think about it: What is actually happening now? I sometimes watched the news to find out how many infections there were and what the situation was like. I missed my colleagues and sport, so I was really glad when training started again. The lockdown hasn't damaged my friendships. I have a few good friends that I've known for a long time, and now I also have new people that I met at secondary school.
I wasn't really scared during this phase, but I did think about it: What is actually happening now?
I'm enjoying my time now and I'm starting to think about what I'd like to do later in my career. I haven't decided anything yet, but I've already had a taster with a design engineer and would like to have a taster with an architect. Architecture really appeals to me. We have remodelled our house. I enjoyed watching and imagining what it will look like when there's another room here. But maybe it will also be computer science? I also find that a very exciting subject."
