Experience

And off they go, the little dwarves. First they romp around in the snow in their ski boots to get a feel for the heavy boots on their feet. Then the little ones slide and run a little with just one ski strapped on, sometimes under their right foot, sometimes under their left. A marmot sneaks up silently from behind. Larger than life, red jumper and green cap. «Murmli!» shout the little winter adventurers and hug the Serfaus mascot.

Then the time has finally come: the children happily click their shoes into both skis. On to the conveyor belt, also known expectantly as the «magic carpet». And then: the big smile. The little ones giggle excitedly and make their first tracks in the snow. In the meantime, Murmli has taken the funny cow Berta, the mascot of Fiss-Ladis, by the hand and they both wave happily. And the parents? They hold their cameras in their hands to capture the moment for the family album.

Family-friendly: The mountain restaurants and huts serve children's menus and have play areas.

«We introduce the youngest holidaymakers to winter sports slowly and with lots of fun on playgrounds, multimedia themed slopes and adventure runs,» says Eva Stark. The sports scientist runs the children's and beginners' programmes at the Fiss-Ladis ski school. With success. There are now 125,000 square metres of snow, including the Kinderschneealm and the Murmlipark in Serfaus as well as Berta's Kinderland at the middle station of the Sonnenbahn Ladis-Fiss, reserved exclusively for children and young people who want to learn to ski and snowboard.

«Both ski schools use internationally recognised teaching methods and innovations,» continues the expert. Many cable cars and lifts also have child-friendly entrances. The new Komperdellbahn, for example, runs at a reduced speed at the stations so that children can get on and off comfortably.

The mountain restaurants and huts have also adapted to the needs of families, serve children's menus and have play areas. But that's not all. «In the afternoon, when the children are a little tired from skiing, there are age-appropriate entertainment programmes with dancing, Punch and Judy shows and other activities. For the older ones, we tend to organise fun and action, such as a barbecue and chill,» says Eva Stark, adding: «We focus on «growing with them», as we want today's young guests to continue coming to us when they are older.»

Enjoy

Families should feel at home in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. This is a matter close to the hearts of the locals. And has been for over 40 years. The winter sports region with its 214 kilometres of pistes promises a great all-round experience for all ages. Or rather: an omnipresent, warm attitude to life that makes winter holidays even more enjoyable. It is not for nothing that the three mountain villages high above the upper Tyrolean Inntal valley are regarded as an extremely family-friendly holiday region. Unique hospitality, excellent service and an extensive activity programme are the focus here: for all ages and ability levels, by the way. Because in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, everyone should feel at home and be happy.

Pure adrenalin with the Fisser Flieger.

The ski depots at the valley stations are convenient, the traffic-calmed areas are safe, the evening events are thrilling and the attractions such as the Serfauser Sauser zipline and the dragon-like Fisser Flieger are adrenalin-pumping. Fancy even more adrenaline? Then head for the ultimate powder fun on a total of twelve freeride routes. And if you don't want to hit the piste? Glide over a total of 52 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and routes, let the wind blow around your nose on the natural toboggan runs or go on extended winter or snowshoe hikes. A tip for families with little ones: some winter hiking trails are even suitable for pushchairs so that even the little ones can enjoy the fresh mountain air to the full.

Of course, there is also plenty of action on the slopes in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. For example on the Fun Slope, which is located on the north side of Fiss along the Plazörabfahrt. With small jumps, waves and boxes, the youngsters show what they have already learnt. At the end, it's time to high-five at the low five. Eva Stark is happy with her pupils. «There will be a bit more action tomorrow,» she says to the parents after the lesson. «We'll practise a few tricks in one of the six fun areas in the ski resort.» Of course, the parents won't want to miss out on this - and will be waiting for their little freestylers next to the airbag with their mobile phones out. There will be no shortage of photos for the family album.
