Episode 1: Beaver and rabbit learn about school rules
Psychologists Fabian Grolimund, Stefanie Rietzler and Nora Völker get to the bottom of these and other questions in a new series of short films.
The films are aimed directly at children and are designed to help teachers find answers to the above questions with their class. Teachers can download free teaching materials to accompany the films from the Biber blog(www.biber-blog.com).
Episode 1: Introduction of rules
A new school year begins! Beaver and Rabbit join Mr Badger in third grade. At the beginning, the teacher wants to establish with his new class which rules should apply in the classroom. Mr Badger takes an unusual approach for the animals: he asks his class what rules should apply to him as a teacher so that all the animal children feel comfortable and can learn well. The rabbit, beaver, bear, vixen, owl and raccoon realise that rules are not simply arbitrary commandments and prohibitions that are imposed on them - but sensible agreements that make it easier to live together and work together.
In the next episode:
Of course, the animals don't immediately manage to stick to the agreed class rules. The impulsive wolf in particular has great difficulty with this. He repeatedly answers without speaking up and annoys his classmates by bursting into ongoing games. The next episode shows how his teacher and his best friend, the bear, help him to honour the agreements. How can rules be introduced in a classroom so that pupils are more likely to stick to them? How can pupils who find it difficult to stick to rules because of their impulsive and quick-tempered behaviour be supported? How can a class be sensitised to the issue of bullying? And how can a teacher react if bullying does occur? Psychologists Fabian Grolimund, Stefanie Rietzler and Nora Völker get to the bottom of these and other questions in a new series of short films.
