Eating disorders: Our topic in March
It started harmlessly. And almost ended in disaster. A bout of stomach flu meant that 14-year-old Paula couldn't eat for four days. When she recovered, her portions became smaller and smaller. At the same time, she suffers ravenous hunger attacks in which she devours everything she can get her hands on. She then vomits.
Paula loses 30 kilograms in seven months. «Every meal was accompanied by panic attacks,» recalls her mother. You can read about what finally saved her daughter in the March dossier «Eating disorders». We also explore these questions: What influence does social media have on young people's eating behaviour? When does preoccupation with one's own body become problematic? What can parents do to prevent eating disorders?
«I've been writing columns practically since I was born. I love it. I think it's my only hobby,» says Lukas Linder about himself. Linder is a playwright, author, househusband and father of a soon-to-be four-year-old boy. He is good at describing things that everyone knows but are difficult to get to the heart of. «I like the strange and funny, even tragicomic things in life. I think I'm not so much looking for answers when I write as for certain feelings that you've experienced and that you want to capture in words and stories.»
Curious? In «Nothing to be ashamed of», our columnist reflects on how his son should remember him. I highly recommend Linder's first work.

Enjoy reading, stay confident.
