Children's birthday party: ideas for indoor and outdoor games
Five children's birthday party games for outdoors
Nature bingo:
Each child receives an empty egg box with pictures of acorns, bird feathers, moonstones or similar objects. They then have to go and collect them in the forest.
Instructions and a print template for the egg box can be found here.
Treasure hunt:
A treasure hunt or scavenger hunt are always very popular. For younger children, the trail can simply be drawn in with chalk and they can go looking for Smarties, raspberries or other decorative items to decorate the birthday cake later. For older children, the treasure hunt or scavenger hunt can be made a little more complicated and you can use a treasure map, photos or confetti to lay out the clues. Tip: The treasure should be divided up fairly and can then be used as a give-away from the children's birthday party if you wish.
Secret Santa workshop in the forest or garden:
This idea is especially fun for children who like to do handicrafts. In the gnome workshop in the forest or garden, children can paint stones, make leaf mobiles, knead dinosaur eggs out of salt dough or print on wooden discs. Nice addition: every child has something to take home from the children's birthday party.

Vintage Olympics:
Certain things are timeless and fun for every child. Organise a vintage Olympics in the garden or on the nearest school playground with sack races, wheelbarrow races (the children hold each other by the legs and have to «drive» each other over a certain distance), can throwing, disguise races (in dad's wellies and mum's mackintosh, for example) and egg races with water balloons instead of eggs.
Make a confetti gun:
A fun confetti gun is created from an empty toilet roll and a balloon. Can also be combined with a fun game of tag.(Click here for instructions.)
A royal picnic:
It doesn't always have to be hullabaloo. Some children love to have a picnic. Find a large meadow where the children can romp around undisturbed and celebrate the birthday picnic with a blanket, crockery, napkins, nice music, etc.

Performance:
Fashion show, circus or a theatre performance, the sofa as a stage, a large cloth as a circus ring - there are no limits to the imagination!
Cook for yourself:
Why always start in the afternoon? The birthday party can also start at midday with a shared lunch. Each child can make their own pizza or pierce a few wieners with spaghetti and then eat «spiders».
Unwrapping à gogo:
The Smarties used to decorate the chocolate cake could be wrapped babushka-style in several layers of presents. The children sit around the table and pass the big present to each other while the music plays. When the music stops, a layer can be unwrapped and a few Smarties tumble out. This continues until a decent pile has been collected for the cake.
Agent course:
A long corridor becomes an agent course. Laser lines are laid out with crepe paper and adhesive tape and then the children have to wind their way through as skilfully as possible. More information can be found at www.tollabea.de and here is a song to get you in the mood.

Vintage Olympics:
Vintage Olympics can also take place indoors. A few ideas: Eating chocolate with gloves and cutlery, flour mice (hide a small object in a pile of flour, child has to pick it out with their mouth), eating apples in water or when the apple is hung from the ceiling with a string, two teams blow cotton wools across the table and sink them in, packing suitcases, blindfolded cow (a child has to feel their friends blindfolded), etc.
Blind cow for drawing:
A blindfolded child has to complete a picture: For example, draw the donkey's lost tail, the pirate's eye patch, the queen's eye patch and so on and so forth.
