A weekend in the Klewenalp region
Climbing in the rocks, solving puzzles on the lake trail or sleeping in an Indian tent: the Klewenalp region offers plenty of fun, enjoyment and nature for young and old.
Experience
While the little ones explore the natural playgrounds, the older children take on the challenges of the via ferrata on the Klewenalp with ambition. The 20-minute discovery tour leads along ladders, steps and iron pins through the rocks of Ergglen. As an alternative to the descent on the Stockhütte gondola lift, many families hire bikeboards at the mountain station and ride down to Emmetten at a leisurely or speedy pace. Tight bends, long straights and a marvellous view over Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains provide a fresh breeze and variety.
Day ticket Klewenalp-Stockhütte: adults CHF 40, with half-fare card CHF 20, with GA travelcard and free for children under 16. Bikeboard hire (incl. helmet): CHF 15 / person (from 12 years or accompanied by an adult).

One nautical mile measures around 1.85 kilometres. The «Buochs-Ennetbürgen lake mile» is just as long. Those who enjoy spending time on, in and around the water will find plenty to do along the Buochs and Ennetbürgen quays with their parks and beaches. Water sports fans can hire canoes, pedalos, stand-up paddles, water bikes and motorised or rowing boats here. Bathing areas and lidos with sandy beaches, play areas, paddling pools, barbecue areas and sunbathing lawns offer fun on the water for all tastes. The Nidwalden promenade also has various restaurants - as well as the Nautical Mile Trophy. Anyone who successfully solves the riddles on this popular detective trail receives a gift from the treasure chest as a reward.
Detective Trail Nautical Mile Trophy: 9 Fr. Treasure map on sale at the restaurant «Der Italiener» / Hotel Rigiblick on the lake, at TCS Camping Buochs or via www.detektiv-trails.ch.

Enjoy
The yodelling experience on the Klewenalp is a unique offer: Fredy Wallimann provides entertainment with his traditional singing during the 30-minute hike to the yodelling bench. At the finish, participants enjoy a cold platter, a delicious yodelling coffee and the romantic evening atmosphere.
The Alpine flower trail around the Klewenstock is a highlight for those interested in botany and for families with children. There are up to 120 different plants to explore on the three-kilometre circular trail, which are described on information boards. Local specialities, sun terraces and playgrounds also ensure a cosy atmosphere and fun in the many mountain inns in the region.

On the 90-minute hike, adults and children alike can enjoy nature and wildlife, while playgrounds and barbecue areas invite you to let off steam and linger. After the Stockhütte-Emmetten cable car ride, take the Postbus to Seelisberg to the idyllic natural swimming area or, without stopping, to the funicular railway mountain station and down to the lake, where the boat takes you back to Beckenried.
