Discover

The experience begins with the journey. From Chur, the Rhaetian Railway takes you up to 1800 metres above sea level in the direction of Arosa. The winding journey offers a unique view of a breathtaking landscape of mountains and gorges. If you take a seat in the special children's carriage in bear country style, you can shorten the almost one-hour journey with exciting children's books and a quiz. Once they arrive in Arosa, visitors are greeted by a mountain village paradise at the end of the valley with no through traffic. Whether you are looking for action and adventure or relaxation and discovery - Arosa has something to offer everyone.

The youngest guests will get their money's worth at the Arosa Bike School, on the Squirrel Trail or in the supervised children's programme of the Bear Gang. For the slightly older explorers, we recommend the numerous themed trails, the bear bike treasure hunt on the trails of Arosa or the Criminal Pass, which take families to panoramic mountain peaks, fragrant alpine meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes.

Watch real bears

The Arosa Bear Sanctuary is an absolute must. It offers a species-appropriate habitat for four bears that have been rescued from poor conditions. In the midst of the natural mountain landscape with pastures, bushes, rocks, streams and forest, the bears can return to their natural behaviour. The Arosa Bear Sanctuary is located at the middle station of the Arosa-Weisshorn cable car and is an educational and adventurous excursion destination for young and old. The rescued bears can be observed in their natural habitat from the visitor platform or the suspension bridges on the adventure trail.

Games, barbecues and treasure hunts

Since the opening of Arosa Bärenland, the five-strong bear gang has been out and about in the Graubünden mountain village. Jöri, Gian, Ella, Beni and Lili entertain the little ones with a great summer programme. It includes fun games afternoons, barbecues, sports, visits to the museum, the bakery, the forest ranger and even a treasure hunt.

The bears are on the loose! Jöri brings joy to the children.
Bear Jöri will make children's eyes light up.

Another highlight is the Märli train, with exciting stories on the journey with the Rhaetian Railway to Langwies and back to Arosa (22 and 29 July). Arosa is also fully geared towards families when it comes to events. At the beginning of August (2 to 4 August 2024), the Family Bike Vibes invite you to explore the trails with the whole family. The weekend is all about biking families with lots of fun and games. The Coop Kinderland Openair also takes place every year in Arosa, where fun and games in the middle of the village will be a big hit this year on 20 and 21 July.

Enjoy

The unique Arosa Card makes summer in Arosa a real pleasure. From 8 June to 20 October 2024, every overnight guest, whether staying in a hotel, holiday flat or on a campsite, will receive the Arosa Card from their first overnight stay in Arosa. With this card, numerous services can be used free of charge during the entire stay. Included are all journeys on the mountain railways, which take guests up to the Weisshorn summit, the Aroser Hörnli, the Parpaner Rothorn or many other mountains with breathtaking views. With the Arosa Card, you can let off steam in the rope park at lofty heights, play chippin golf over hill and dale, in the archery park on Sonnenberg Hochwang or on a bike in the Skill Centre.

Relaxation is provided by sailing on the Obersee or the sandy beach at the Untersee lido as well as the free transfer to the attractions with the local bus or the journey with the Rhaetian Railway to the villages in the Schanfigg valley.

Overnight stay

As an official family destination, Arosa has focussed on the family experience for many years. Numerous restaurants and hotels in the Graubünden mountain village have special children's offers, children's play areas or offer free syrup for the little ones.

The Hotel Sunstar and the Hotel Hof Maran stand out in particular. As certified family hotels, they specialise in welcoming families and tailor their services to children and their (grand)parents. Whether it's the spacious family rooms, the children's buffet for dinner, the supervised entertainment programme or the spacious and well-equipped playrooms and indoor fun park - at the Sunstar and Hof Maran, a family trip becomes an oasis of well-being for the whole family.
