Empathise with bullying - come to the Glatt shopping centre!
Bullying no longer stops when the final bell rings at school - children take the nasty comments with them on their smartphones right into their bedrooms. Cyberbullying eliminates safe spaces. According to the 2016 JAMES study, one in four children in Switzerland is bullied, humiliated, threatened or exposed on social networks. What is particularly insidious is that the perpetrators can hide behind their screens - and often lose sight of how much their words can hurt.
The Elternsein Foundation wants to change this with its awareness-raising campaign «When words hurt». The campaign will run from Monday 4 June to Saturday 9 June at the Glatt shopping centre in Wallisellen. With special mobile phone installations that use electrical impulses to make the psychological pain of a nasty message tangible, school classes and visitors to the centre will be able to feel what words can do.
There will also be experts and young «first responders» on site to give «tips for emergencies» and explain rules of behaviour and measures.
YouTube beauty star Nathalie Céline willtalk about her own experiences online and how she has dealt with bullying.
There will also be an Instagram selfie wall with cool wings for everyone who wants to take a stand against online hate speech with the hashtag #nomobbing.
