Coworking with a child: «More peace and quiet in the daily organisation»

3 questions for Diana Wick, co-founder of Tadah in Zurich, the first large coworking space with childcare in German-speaking Switzerland, which opened at the beginning of October.
The coworking space in the new Yond building in Zurich is all about flexibility. Workspaces can be rented by the hour, but also for half or full days. Anyone who wants to can have their children aged from three months to around six years looked after in the Kids Space. There is a cafeteria, two meeting rooms, an open space and plenty of places to retreat and work.

Mrs Wick, how would you sum up the first thirty days?

More people are coming every day now. Sometimes it's still very quiet here, on other days it's really busy, both upstairs in the coworking space and downstairs in the Kids Space. We can see that: It works. But what's important is that many people have supported us in its creation, for example via crowdfunding. We are now dependent on them finding their way to us from time to time. Be it to work, to attend one of our events or by booking meeting rooms with their companies.

Who uses your coworking space? Is it mainly parents? How many companies use the offer for their employees?

Our audience is diverse. Some mums and many dads already work here. A start-up also rented a permanent space here in the first week. Many come regularly, others test us out first with drop-in days. The great thing is that more and more companies no longer just want to talk about compatibility, but actually want to do something for parents in their company. With a corporate subscription, employees at these companies can cushion those days when they have to meet deadlines but have no childcare options. This brings a lot of calm to the daily organisation of part-time working parents.

What will next year look like?

We hope that things will really take off for us and all parents who want to balance work and family life more easily. Then we can soon open the second Tadah coworking space with childcare at another location. And the third.
A day in the coworking space costs CHF 40 without a subscription and CHF 165 with childcare for one child.
