A weekend on the Lenk
Lenk – which has been awarded the «Family Destination» seal of approval – has plenty to offer families with children of all ages. And parents can also recharge their batteries in this village in the Bernese Oberland, situated at an altitude of 1,068 metres above sea level.
Experience
On the Betelberg trail in the footsteps of marmots: in the «Murmeli-Bau» – a walk-in cave on the Marmot Trail – visitors get to know these adorable mountain dwellers up close. You feel like a little marmot in the replica winter den, which uses various audio and lighting effects to create the perfect atmosphere – a lovely spot for playing and exploring all about these Alpine animals. On some weekends and during the school holidays, rangers are on hand to reveal a secret or two about the marmots.

Along the four-kilometre-long Lynx Trail, you can learn more about the behaviour and lifestyle of this big cat. The trail ends at the family-friendly Wallegg-Stube restaurant. There's another surprise in store during the summer of 2022: Flöckli the goat, familiar from the themed gondolas, will be out and about on the Lynx Trail.
Information about the trails: www.lenk-bergbahnen.ch > Lenker – Mountain Summer > Families. Price example: Family day ticket for 2 adults and 2 children: 80 CHF. GA and Half-Fare card holders now benefit from a 50% discount on single journeys; children with a Junior Card travel free of charge when accompanied by their parents.
The Wallegg-Stube mountain restaurant also serves as a stop-off or starting point for the hike through the stunning Wallbach Gorge. Here, you can really appreciate the power of water as it carves its way through the rocks towards the valley. Down below, where the riverbed widens, there is a lovely fire pit with wood. There are also plenty of stones just waiting to be stacked into a cairn. A highlight for anyone who enjoys walking alongside the water.

You can simply relax and play at the 7,000-square-metre Alpkultur playground at Lenkerseeli. A variety of play equipment made from natural materials invites you to play, climb and have fun, including a climbing mikado, a barefoot path, a suspension bridge and a zip line.

Or how about a ride across the playground on the lovingly maintained Strubeli train? In the playground's central area, there are also tables and benches with parasols right next to the barbecue pits. Wood for barbecuing is available all year round. The kiosk in the playground sells snacks, hot and cold drinks, and has toilets.

The Alphüttli and the Arena (gravel area) on the playground can be hired for private events for a full or half day. For more information: www.lenk-simmental.ch/alpkultur-spielplatz

Younger children can splash about and enjoy the water in the indoor or outdoor children's pools, complete with a slide and plenty of other toys.
Price example for a family of three (2 adults, 1 child / 1 adult, 2 children): CHF 32 or CHF 26 with the Simmental Card; each additional child CHF 8 or CHF 6. Reduced prices apply if only the outdoor pool is used. Information: www.erlebnisbadlenk.ch
