A weekend in the Entlebuch
Experience
Watching deer grazing and chamois climbing, listening to the whistling of marmots? If you want to get up close and personal with wild animals, the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch is the place to be. It's worth getting out of bed early. In the morning, gamekeeper Dani Schmid awaits guests for a special excursion. Together with his dog, he accompanies families on adventurous trails through the moor and forest to the open field: there is a great chance of spotting small and large game while the professional tells them exciting facts about the animals and their behaviour.
Colourful orchids, iridescent dragonflies, lush green mosses and gnarled mountain pines: The mystical moors captivate us with their beauty. And they also fascinate children - no wonder, since carnivorous plants also live there ...

In the Mooraculum adventure world in Sörenberg, families learn all about the habitat of moors and their function. Meanwhile, the friendly mascot Söppli ensures that fun and games are not neglected. Thanks to 17 adventure stations, girls and boys can become experts in all things moorland on the large moorland trail or the pram-friendly sun dew trail . Children can also look forward to water games, concerts with the inhabitants of the moor, a climbing garden and a shallow pond that they can cross on a raft.
The Marbachegg provides the best arguments that hiking is anything but boring. This idyllic spot has something to offer for every taste. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can hike to the small lake or to Kemmeriboden - with a bit of luck, hikers will hear the marmots whistling. Foodies can set off on the Bretzeli Trail, where the sweet biscuit is honoured and the search for the golden Bretzeli begins. There's plenty of adventure on offer too: those who want to can whizz across the alpine meadows on carts on a wooden track or explore the diverse trails by bike.

Enjoy
The Entlebuch also has plenty to offer in the way of culinary delights. It is home to a variety of traditionally produced culinary delights. Many of these are certified with the «Echt Entlebuch» label, which stands for authentic production. In this context, guests are recommended to visit the official catering partners of the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch, who focus their cuisine on the best ingredients from the immediate vicinity.
Culinary delights can be combined with puzzling fun on numerous special tours in Entlebuch. On the FoodTrail Marbach, for example, connoisseurs hike in the footsteps of gentle giants and get to know the exotic water buffalo, which have been native to the region for several years. It was the Marbach mountain cheese dairy that brought the first buffalo mozzarella in Switzerland onto the market. Dessert fans will get their money's worth on the hike from Sörenberg along the moorland to Kemmeriboden-Bad, as a huge portion of Merängge awaits as a reward at the end. The breakfast options on the excursion mountains, such as the Älplerzmorge on Marbachegg or the Rossweid buffet in Sörenberg, are popular with families. On Sundays, there is a huge selection for a breakfast to your heart's content.
