First things first: I enjoy being at the day school. The atmosphere is usually good; all the pupils know each other and treat one another respectfully. After all, there aren't that many of us. It doesn't bother me that I'm at school all day, apart from on Wednesday afternoons.
I've got classmates who go to a local school and are always on the go. At lunchtime they rush home, grab a quick bite to eat and are off again. That would be too stressful for me. My older brother – he's at grammar school now – was the first of us to come here. It seems to have worked out so well that our parents enrolled me here too after nursery. My younger brother has now started school here as well.
I dream of having another room just for the older pupils.
When I tell people that I'm a day pupil, some of them react strangely. They think we have to be here so that our parents can work full-time. But that's not true. Originally , it was only our father – he's a project manager at ETH – who worked full-time.
It was only two years ago that our mum slowly began to rebuild her own business as an aromatherapy massage therapist. I think what they wanted most of all was for their children to go to a school where there's more going on than just the usual lessons. That's definitely the case; we're a real community.
A few suggestions for improving the day school
The teachers and carers are just as much a part of this as we pupils. Nevertheless, I have a few suggestions on how our day school could be improved further: we older pupils need even more places where we're safe from the younger ones. It's lovely that we're the godparents to the Year 1 pupils. But not all the time.
Most leisure courses are rather boring. I don't want to bake; I want to learn to programme.
I dream of having another room just for the older pupils. With cool furniture and fresh paint on the walls. Perhaps with computers too, which we can use on our own.
While we're on the subject: most leisure courses are rather boring. I don't want to bake; I want to learn to code. One last thought: do we really have to have fish for lunch all the time? I know it's healthy, but it's not exactly tasty.
