At the age of 16, I felt very grown-up, but I wasn't quite sure what really suited me. As a result, I took a few detours. It was only after completing my 10th year of school and dropping out of a retail apprenticeship that I realised how good it is for me to be in a creative environment.
The vocational trainer said to me: «You seem to be having so much fun – why not have a look at the polygraph apprenticeship?» That was a turning point for me.
During a taster apprenticeship as an advertising graphics designer (EFZ), I was given the chance to design a business card. It opened up a whole new world for me. The vocational trainer who was supervising me at the time said to me: «You're really enjoying this – why not have a look at the polygraph apprenticeship?» That was a real turning point for me.
I found an apprenticeship as a polygraph (EFZ ) at the Bürgerspital Basel, and the training suited me perfectly. My motivation was also evident in my portfolio; I then secured a highly sought-after position straight away with Möbel Pfister in the marketing team.
Fancy some fresh ideas?
I'm still working there 80 per cent of the time alongside my HF Visual Design course at the Basel School of Design. I was drawn to the course because, after a while, I felt the need for some fresh inspiration. It's also great to be able to do conceptual work as well as the hands-on side of things as a graphic designer.
At the moment I'm designing a new typeface and am already thinking up something cool for my dissertation. After that, I'll have time for my other hobbies again: photography, drawing, making videos, dancing and singing. I am, and always will be, a person of many interests.
