A weekend in the Sörenberg ski area

Sörenberg in the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch is just under an hour's drive from Lucerne. In winter, the largest ski area in the canton of Lucerne offers fun and relaxation for all generations - and especially for families.

Experience

The Sörenberg ski area has 53 km of pistes and a wide range of snow sports options for the whole family: while the little ones have fun with Snowli the rabbit and make their first turns in the Kids Village, the older ones practise what they have learnt in the Mooraculum children's paradise on the Rossweid. Lila Luchs and her animal friends from the moor help the children with their first «Bögli», have a fun snowball fight with them or stand by the photo wall for a souvenir picture.
Those who have already mastered skiing can show off their skills on the steeper slopes at Hundsknubel, on the «Grandmother» run or on the kickers, tubes and rails of the freestyle line. The ski and snowboard school in Sörenberg offers the right programme for every generation, be it for the first attempts at skiing, in the freestyle academy or in a private course with ski or telemark lessons. The Skiline offers Raiffeisen Speed Check, the Photopoint or the altitude metre measurement also leave no room for boredom. The Eisee ski area on the Brienzer Rothorn, the highest mountain in the canton of Lucerne, is more challenging. Experienced skiers and freeriders in particular will get their money's worth here - with a view of the breathtaking panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks.
There is also plenty for non-skiers to experience in Sörenberg: for example, gliding along the panoramic cross-country ski trails from Salwideli to the valley station of the Rothorn cable car, tobogganing leisurely on the sledge runs, crunching along the winter hiking trails or snowshoe trails.

There are numerous restaurants and mountain huts to suit every taste in the Sörenberg ski area. And despite different (winter sports) interests, the whole family can get together for lunch - the restaurants are often within easy reach of everyone in the winter sports area or at the access points. Night owls can look forward to a variety of offers such as the fondue chinoise evening on the Brienzer Rothorn, night sledging with spaghetti fun.

Particularly recommended is the «Gastronomic circular walk», an easy winter hike through the snow-covered moorland landscape with views of the white Schrattenfluh. The catering establishments along the Rossweid-Salwideli-Rischli-Sörenberg route have everything you need to fortify hungry guests with a local dish.
