I'm a positive person and always remain optimistic. Perhaps that's because I have a large, close-knit family behind me. My parents , in particular , have always supported and encouraged me when things haven't worked out straight away.
After my third year of upper secondary school, I initially started an apprenticeship as a roofer, but I gave it up after a few months. I had underestimated what it was like to work at height, and I didn't feel particularly at ease within the team either. I realised just how important it is to get on well with one another when I started working for my current employer.
My vocational trainer had faith in me and believed I could pass the exam.
During my 10th year at school, I was able to start a work experience placement in building services engineering at Marti Haustechnik in Menznau, Lucerne. I was immediately impressed by the team spirit amongst the staff. During the placement, I also gained a better understanding of the heating sector and was able to sign an apprenticeship contract as a heating engineer (EBA) with the same company.
I like to get stuck in, which suits this job well. In the final exam, I really struggled with the practical test. Nevertheless, I decided to take up the offer to go on to do the EFZ training as a heating engineer straight away. My vocational trainer had faith in me and believed I could pass the qualification.
In the summer of 2025, I successfully completed my EBA apprenticeship. Now I'm keen to go on and get my EFZ qualification as well. To that end, I often go into the workshop on Saturdays to practise specific work processes. There's hardly anyone there at that time, so I enjoy the peace and quiet and can relax whilst honing my skills.
